Privacy Policy

The short version: Voxlight collects no data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no trackers, and no server of ours. Everything the app does happens on your device or in your own iCloud.
What we collect
Nothing. Voxlight has no user accounts, no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, and no backend operated by us. We cannot see your books, your listening history, your notes, or anything else — the data never reaches us, because there is nowhere for it to go.
Your books and listening data
Audiobooks you import are stored locally on your device. All transcription — Moment transcripts and the live karaoke view — happens on-device using Apple’s Neural Engine, and the results are stored on-device. Your listening positions, history, Moments, and notes live on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your personal iCloud (see below).
iCloud sync
Voxlight can sync your Moments across your devices using iCloud (CloudKit). This uses the private database of your own iCloud account — only your Apple ID can access it. We operate no server and cannot read, see, or recover anything you sync. Audio clips transfer over WiFi. Turning off iCloud for Voxlight in iOS Settings stops sync entirely.
Location (optional, off by default)
You can optionally let Voxlight tag a Moment with the place where you captured it. This is off by default. If you enable it, the location is stored with the Moment — on your device and, if you use iCloud sync, in your personal iCloud — and appears only in your own Moments and your own exports. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party. You can turn this off at any time in Settings, and iOS lets you revoke the permission entirely.
Plex
If you choose to connect your own Plex Media Server, Voxlight communicates directly between your device and your server (and plex.tv for sign-in, per Plex’s own privacy policy). Your Plex credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain on your device. We never see your Plex account, your server, or your library.
Exports
When you export Moments — as Markdown, JSON, or Readwise-ready CSV, or share a clip or card — the data goes only where you send it, at the moment you send it, through the standard iOS share sheet.
Purchases
Any purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive no payment information.
Children
Voxlight does not collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version adds optional crash reporting — we will update this page and note it in the app’s release notes before the change takes effect.
